Current Opportunities

Volunteers are an important part of the growth and the mission of The Phylicia Simone Barnes Foundation. The dedication and contributions of our volunteers add to our success. At this time all open positions posted below are voluntary.  If there is a position posted below that you are interested in but you feel that you may not meet all of the qualifications we encourage you to apply. Training can be provided for many of the open positions!

Students who wish to obtain service learning hours may apply!

Volunteer (General):

Position Description: We are seeking individuals to volunteer for special events, and tasks.

Position Requirements: Candidate must posses strong organizational skills and planning skills. Must be proficient in basic computer applications such as  Microsoft Word and internet usage.  Must have access to a computer with an internet connection and an email account. Volunteers will participate in planning, preparation and execution of events and tasks.

Board Member (General):

Position Description: Board members will attend all board and committee meetings and functions, such as special events. Members will serve on committees or task forces and offer to take on special assignments.

Position Requirements: Candidate must posses strong organizational skills and planning skills. Must be proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and internet usage.  Must have access to a computer with an internet connection and an email account. Board member must posses the ability to listen, analyze, think clearly and creatively, work well with people individually and in a group. Must be willing to prepare for and attend board and committee meetings, ask questions, take responsibility, follow through on a given assignment,  and open doors of the community. High School Diploma/GED required.

 MP Researcher (Missing Persons Researcher): 

Position Description:The MP Researcher will gather information about stories of missing children/persons to share with the public in order to spread awareness about their cases.

Position Requirements: Candidate must posses strong organizational skills and planning skills. Must be proficient in basic computer applications such as, internet usage, word processing and spreadsheets for tracking and reporting purposes.  Must have access to a computer with an internet connection.

Board Treasurer:

Position description: The Board Treasurer will be responsible for book-keeping and financial statements for our organization.

Position Requirements: Candidate must posses strong organizational and planning skills. Must be proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and internet usage. Must posses current BS degree in accounting, CPA certification or PA certification is a plus but not required. Qualified candidate must have 1+ years of accounting experience and past history of working with business accounts.  Experience with non-profit organizations prefered but not required.

Position Description: The Volunteer Coordinator board member will manage volunteers within our organization working closely with them to keep track of availabilities of each volunteer. The candidate will also recruit volunteers as need and assemble volunteer groups for designated tasks and events.

Requirements: Candidate must posses strong organizational and planning skills. Must be proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and internet usage. Must have strong record keeping skills (for volunteer tracking). Human resources experience or similar supervisory background required. High School Diploma/ GED required.

Human Resources Director:

Position Description:

The Human Resources Director guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire organization. The Human Resources Director coordinates implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff; reports to the CEO and serves on the executive management team; and assists and advises company managers about Human Resources issues.

Requirements: Candidate must posses strong organizational and planning skills. Must be proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and internet usage. Must have strong record keeping skills. Human resources experience or similar supervisory background required. High School Diploma/ GED required.

Family Fun Night!

Tickets are now on sale for our Family Fun Night at Red Zone Adventures! Red Zone Adventures is located at 1928 Greenspring Drive Timonium, MD 21093! Bring the family and come on out on July 29th, 2012., from 6:30pm-9:30pm for a great time with PSB Foundation!

There will be door prizes, raffles, giveaways and  plenty of activities for children! Activities Include: Lazer Tag, Urban Golf, Lazer Maze Challenge, Lightspace Play Floor, Arcade Games w/Redemption Prizes, and Concessions Food and Drinks!!!

Please come out to support PSB Foundation as we continue to grow. Proceeds from the evening’s event will be donated to our organization!

Grant Writer:
Position Description: The Grant Writer is responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources. Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants. Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs. Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors. Provide stewardship to current donors, including providing regular written updates (newsletters etc) to corporate and foundation donors. Candidate must have an understanding of institutional history and programs. Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting. Track statistics relevant to development and provide department with written materials necessary for donor stewardship (visitor number and diversity, educational program attendance, etc). Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years experience with grant writing.
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Able to monitor and meet income goals.
